Have you ever wondered what it is like to write a crime thriller? Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to know what a real-life detective would write into a book?
Lancashire-based author Roger A. Price did just that.. only he used his own experiences as a detective inspector for Lancashire Constabulary to make his dream of writing a reality. What better way to know the facts than to live them?
Having served in the Lancashire Police force for over 31 years, retiring in the rank of detective inspector, Roger served in several CID departments, drug squads, the Regional Crime Squad and the National Crime Squad (now the NCA).
Roger says: “I saw service on many complex investigations including murder enquires, and my service on the National Crime Squad sent me across the UK, Europe and as far away as South East Asia.”
“I set up the first dedicated informant handling unit at divisional level, in Preston, and ended my time at force headquarters specialist operations, where I ran the Operation Nimrod undercover drug unit.”
During his lengthy service, Roger was fortunate enough to be commended on four occasions for his tireless work for the Force and has spent the last ten years mining his experiences and turning them into crime fiction novels.
Is sixth novel – the first in a brand-new series – is titled ‘Inside Threat’, and is born out of a true event in which he was involved: “I have, of course, fictionalised the facts and then run with them, but I’ll let you into a secret when I see you. I might even tell you what that true event was. But it’s for your ears only!”
And you don’t have to wait long as we are hosting the man himself for a talk about his career, transition into penmanship, and what it’s all been like, on the 31st March.
Roger’s novel was published and released in November 2022 and is receiving fabulous reviews and he will have signed copies available to sell on the day.
Anyway, we’re really looking forward to welcoming Roger and hear that he is excited to see you all at Gibbon Bridge Hotel on the 31st March, and hopes as many of you as possible can make it. You are certainly guaranteed some fine food and expert insight from a member of the top brass!
