The dazzling displays were fashioned from fresh flowers and garden greenery under the expert guidance of GB girls Ann Seed and Grace Holland.

Mum and daughter duo Keeley Lund and Jean Saunders were thrilled with the final results. Keeley said: “You couldn’t buy what we’ve handmade for the price of the workshop – we are thrilled with how the wreaths have turned out.

“I booked today as mum’s Christmas present and it has been a wonderful experience from start to finish.”

For £60 a dozen guests enjoyed a pastries and bucks fizz breakfast, followed by a yuletide lunch of turkey, Christmas pudding and a glass of wine.

The seasonal workshops are always a hit here at the Gibbon Bridge, as regular Ruth Taylor explained: “As well as learning a new skill, we really do have a lot of fun and glean a great sense of achievement from the day.

“It is a lovely social event where I’ve met many new friends over the years,” added Ruth who brought along first-timer and friend Janet Harrison.

Another lady taking her first Christmas workshop was Monica Clarkson the aunt of Gibbon Bridge regular Sarah Verity.

Monica, Sarah and her mum Susan Walmsley created three beautiful hanging wreaths which will take pride of place on their front doors.

Sarah said: “Mum and I love coming here for the workshops and we knew my aunt would too. We’ve had lots of fun and laughs today.”
